antiquiet.com is completely down once again. whenever our sites go down, we never see any alert or explanation on dreamhoststatus.com mentioning any of our servers. i can only imagine how often our sites are coming down without us noticing. we rarely get an explanation as to WHY the sites go down- it’s usually ‘well it was down, and now it’s not.’ at first, we loved your service… but this is way too much downtime to be worth our money. we had our sites hosted out of a buddy’s closet for free before here, and they never went down once. we’re seeing an overall drop in traffic (and revenue) from the increased downtime and increased page load time since moving to dreamhost. what is the problem? are the shared servers overcrowded? would a private server or virtual private server guarantee me no downtime and better performance???

It looks like our admins were working on your server earlier which required a reboot.
Everything appears to be stabilized now.

and now my site is unresponsive again. this is unacceptable. i’m going to start shopping for a new host. sorry.

they all suck. i’d suggest midphase VPS but it’s fucking 75 bucks per month

Why not just get a dedicated server that you can host all of your sites on? ThePlanet.com hosting freakin’ rocks. Been with them for over 5 years now! Ever since they started as RackShack and then changed their name to EV1Servers and then was bought by ThePlanet.

We’ve used midphase for PHP hosting and are very happy with them. We have a decicated box. Definitely the way you should go.

A word advice: Keep Away From Dreamhost! The only way to describe Dreamhost’s tech support team is that they are incompetent.
Dreamhost is the worst hosting company I have ever dealt with. I’m responsible for number of websites and by mistake I choose Dreamhost for the newest client (askdivine.com)!
They have disabled my website which is only two weeks old, and it is offline for well over 24hrs because of a security threat!
Apparently a phishing page was uploaded to the account. After removing the threat they also have disabled the website, which was absolutely unnecessary!
Their excuse was that the old versions of WordPress, PHPBB, etc. are the common causes for this sort of thing – the irony is that I have never used any of them!
Anyway, I went through the files and told them everything is OK and 10 hrs later came up with a new excuse that our web software itself is the threat – and we need to update Joomla. According to them Joomla 1.5.11 has potential vulnerabilities.
Cut the story short, I have upgraded to Joomla! 1.5.12. and the website is still down! I have submitted a new ticket support over 7 hrs ago and no response yet!

yeah i’m happy to be off them…
i’ve been on mediatemple, but lately my sites have been crashing due to what mt is calling “bad neighbors.” it infuriates me that i’m not getting what i’m paying a premium for. i’m just going to get my own colocation and host everything myself. the only reason i pay hosting companies is to save me time and effort. it’s not hard to keep a server running. i guess if you need something done right…

I feel for ya but I only experienced problems with DreamHost when it comes to having a high traffic WordPress sites, I don’t know why.
My other CMS powered sites run great! Well except for when they did that big move a few months ago. That just sucked! Its was fun to read all the pissed off people on their blog.
Anyway this is a great site! Something new to follow!
